Elegant Invention Isostick USB Case Study
Project: USB Stick
Processes Involved: Plastic Injection Molding, Painting
Components: 3 (Top, Bottom, Endcap)
About The Project
The isostick was created by Elegant Invention of Indiana. It is a USB flash drive and optical drive in one portable device with installed software for saving and transporting ISO files and much more. Our design brief was to make a case for the hardware to be used as a prototype for their Kickstarter campaign.
How The Parts Were Made
The plastic injected molded case came in three parts for the top, bottom and end cap. Original samples were scheduled to be painted black, but at our suggestion an alternate sample was made with a translucent case to enhance the visual appeal of the prototype. Later versions may also use a UV reactive plastic that glows when in use.

"I have been impressed by the team at Star Rapid every step of the way. The workmanship and product quality has been consistently excellent, while their initial thinking in terms of translucency helped enhanced the visual appeal of the isostick."
